Woodside Home Remodel

This family home in Woodside is surrounded by beautiful hills and trees, but you couldn’t see them from the inside which featured several small rooms and few windows. Carrying out an architectural remodel designed by architect Sam Sinnott, we worked with the homeowner to provide light and bright interior design that honors the past and makes the home modern at the same time. Half of this home was completely remodeled inside an out, adding a comfortable guest suite, a two-car garage that leads directly into the house, an office, laundry room with massive storage and a small powder room.

In the kitchen, new horizontal subway tiles provide a clean backdrop for black honed countertops and elegant custom cabinetry. The oak flooring mirrors the historical floors in the home, which were redone to match the new wood. New windows bring in the incredible views, which the homeowners can enjoy from their farm sink or from the induction cooktop.

Thoughtful touches make the main kitchen more unique and comfortable: a small bookshelf where the homeowners can stash a purse or charge a cell phone, hand-crafted open shelving to hold everyday dishes, and a spacious pantry fronted by an antique-looking screen door. Appliances are hidden by custom panels, and a large vertical storage space is viewed through beautiful glass doors.

In the nearby powder room, a leggy sink sits on top of a beautiful marble floor, set off by light blue walls and elegant light fixtures. Downstairs, a guest suite features a small but efficient kitchen to make guests feel right at home.

These homeowners honored the feeling of a casual country house while bringing in modern touches and features to make the home comfortable and beautiful for the years to come.
